Dr. Lawrence Kaggwa
Director Planning Ministry of Health
Dr. Lawrence Kaggwa is the longest serving Director of Mulago Hospital Complex. He was appointed in 1993 and served 12 years in the office. He is now Director of Planning Ministry of Health.
The Doctor is happy about transforming a crumbling Mulago Hospital to acceptable standards in terms of training, setting up of Uganda’s Heart Institute, the Burns Treatment Unit and installing modern equipment.
He was the best A’ level student in 1968 at St. Mary’s College Kisubi and he emerged the best Medicine student at Makerere University in 1974.
As a Specialist Surgeon since 1980, Dr. Kaggwa has taught Medical students and Post Graduate Doctors.
Dr. Lawrence Kaggwa is a resource that the Old Boys should use much more. I find him very useful and I think there is need to see how best to utilize him. he has extra interest in the School and the welfare of all. I have found dealing with him very useful and he can be helpful to all of us.
